Happy 12th Day of Christmas, everyone!
Today’s gift goes to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. St. Jude does research on childhood cancer and other catastrophic diseases, and helps kids get well. They want every child to be able to survive a bad diagnoses. For children in their care, they have an 80% survival rate for childhood cancer, up from 20% when they started, thanks in large part to treatments developed at St. Jude. And, of course, to their financial model: ability to pay should never be a barrier to treatment for anyone, especially kids. At St Jude, no family who’s child is being treated at St. Jude ever sees a bill, for treatment, travel, housing, or food. Period. They know that families dealing with childhood cancer already have more to deal with than any family should. They don’t need the added burden and worry about deductibles, out-of-pocket minimums, billing, whatever. Just get well.
St Jude is able to do this largely through donations; really, it’s hard to think of a better cause than helping sick kids get well. I’d urge you to consider helping out.
